Bible: Genesis 13: 8-11
Title: Two Roads of Faith
Passage to Memorize: “Is not the whole land before you?  Please separate from me; if to the left then I will go to the right; or if to the right then I will go to the left.”                      (Genesis 13:9)

1.              Last time we studied about the actions of Abraham and Lot who are our forefathers of faith and how their actions represent the two roads of faith.  Therefore we will no longer talk about the history of the two roads but rather we will be studying the several key points on how each one of us should walk and act.
The two sides left and right are talked about on the key verse of this lesson.  It is teaching us that every Christians when they are faced with the reality will either go to the left or to the right.  There is no middle road because there are only two roads.
All Christians whether those from the past several thousand years or those scattered all over the world in the present without question have went and still are going through realities in their lives.  These countless amount of people are either going to the left or the right which are the two roads when they go through realities.  Therefore we are walking in one of these two methods of faith in each and every one of our realities.  We are either following Abraham’s method of faith or Lot’s method of faith.  There are of course those who continually switch left and right and those who continually only walk on one road.
As Christians the success and failure of our soul and flesh in this world and the world to come all depends on how we act in our reality.  Some will only follow destruction and some will only follow the way to salvation and some will walk in both the road of salvation and destruction.

2.               We are studying this lesson again and more clearly because after we understood the meaning of the two methods we realized an exceedingly important fact: that our present time and eternity is decided upon our reality.
The realities that these two forefathers faced and the         realities we face as individuals are exactly the same.  We are trying to study on how the two decisions made in the reality resulted in destruction or success of the soul and flesh.

The realities that Abraham and Lot faced were:
(1)            The deciding factor of what was more of relative    
importance between God’s character and their human character.
(2)            The deciding factor of what was more of relative
importance between God’s opinion and their human opinions.
(3)            The deciding factor of what was more of relative
importance between God’s blessing and the material possessions you can see.

These three points are always involved in our reality
           whether it is by night or day in any place and in
           anything.  Therefore our reality decides which of the
           two sides we value more.  It also decides whether we
           reject or receive God wholly or partly.

3. There were three deciding factors. First the relative importance of characters decided the perfection or destruction             of themselves. Second the relative importance of opinions decided one to be poor and a failure in relation to humans or one to be rich and successful in relation to humans. Third the relative importance             between God’s blessing and material possessions decided one to be completely poor or completely rich in possessions in the spiritual and material worlds.
This is the truth that will never change and the judgment of God.  Since people are unaware of these secret and scary facts people are destroying themselves by foolishly trying to exalt themselves day and night to enlarge themselves in human relationships and material possessions and by foolishly being led into greed fraud jealously quarrels and struggles.  Let us be aware of these facts and not be deceived and refrain ourselves so that we may be blessed.

1.            What is the meaning of the left and right directions?
Answer: That in our given reality there are only left and right directions that is two roads. That there are only two choices and no other choice.

2.            When and where are the rise fall prosperity and  
decline in our soul and flesh decided?
 Answer: The present time and the place we are in which is called the reality.

3.            What blessings were decided in the realities that the two
forefathers faced?
Answer: Perfection of themselves riches in men and riches in possessions were decided.

1. (신앙의 두 길)

믿음의 두 조상은 아브라함과 롯이다.
그들의 행위에서 우리는 신앙의 두 가지 노선에 대하여 공부를 한 적이 있다.
두 사람에 대한 역사적인 내용은 앞서 말했기 때문에 이제 우리 자신이 걸어갈 중요한 행위 몇 가지를 공부하겠다.

본 공과 요절 성구에는 '좌우'라는 양편을 말하였다.
이는 어떤 기독자라도 자기가 당면한 현실에 좌 아니면 우 우 아니면 좌 두 길뿐이지 중간은 없다는 것을 가르치심이다.

수천 년 내려온 모든 기독자와 현재 천하에 흩어져 있는 기독자를 막론하고
믿는 사람은 다 현실 현실만을 통과하여 일생을 걷고 있다.
이렇게 수많은 사람들이 통과하는 현실은 다 좌우라는 두 길로만 되어 있다.

그러므로 우리는 아브라함의 신앙 방편이든 롯의 신앙 방편이든 이 두 가지 방편 중 하나로만 모든 현실을 걷고 있다.
물론 좌우 길을 계속 바꾸는 사람도 있고 또 계속 한 길만 걷는 사람들도 있기는 하다.
우리 기독자의 영과 육 금생과 내세 전부의 흥망성쇠는 자기가 현실에서 어떻게 행동하느냐에서 결정된다.
어떤 사람은 멸망뿐 또 어떤 사람은 구원뿐 또 어떤 사람은 구원과 멸망이 섞어 있는 걸음을 걷는 자들도 있다.

2. (둘 중에 하나를 결정하는 현실)

우리는 이 공과에서 우리의 현재와 우리의 영원이 오늘 현실에서 결정되는 지극히 큰 사실을 깨닫고
두 가지 신앙의 길 그 2가지 신앙 방편의 내용을 더욱 명확히 공부하여야 할 필요를 느껴 또 공부하게 되었다.
이 두 조상이 그 당시 만났던 그 현실이나 우리 우리가 각자 만나는 우리의 현실이나 꼭 같다.
현실에 대한 두 사람의 두 가지 판단과 그 걸음이 무엇이기에 이렇게 영육의 멸망과 구원이 결정될 만한 중요점이 있는가 공부하려 한다.

아브라함과 롯이 만난 그 현실은

(1)하나님의 인격과 자신들의 인격이 비교되어 어느 것이 더 중요한지 그 비중이 결정되고
(2)하나님의 의사와 자기들의 의사와 어느 것이 더 중요한지 그 비중이 결정되고
(3)보이는 모든 조건과 하나님의 축복 이 두 가지 중에 어느 것이 자기 소유에 중요한지가 결정되었던 까닭이다.

우리가 살고 있는 현실이라는 모든 현실은 밤이나 낮이나 어디에든지 무엇에든지 위에 말한 이 3 가지 문제가 대두하고 있다.
그러므로 현실에서 둘 중에 어느 것이 '보다' 더 귀중히 대우하느냐가 결정된다.
우리가 하나님을 완전 배척하거나 완전 영접하는 것도 여기에서 결정되는 것이다.

3. (성패의 결정)

3 가지 결정 중
첫째 것에서 자체 완전과 자체 멸망이 결정되었고
둘째 것에서 인간 실패한 인간 거지와 인간 성공한 인간 부요자가 결정되었고
셋째 것에서 영계와 물질계의 소유 완전 가난과 완전 부요가 결정된 것이다.

이는 변할 수 없는 진리요 하나님의 심판이다.
사람들은 이 은밀한 무서운 사실은 하나도 모르고 어리석게 밤낮 자기 높이기를 인간 부요되기를 모든 소유에 부요하기만 위하여 욕심 시기 질투 분쟁 노력 등으로 자멸을 취하고 있는 이 사실을 우리는 자각하고 삼가 자기를 복되게 하고 스스로 속이는 자 되지 말아야 한다.

답： 우리의 당한 현실에는 좌우 두 길뿐이고 그 외에는 길이 없는 것을 가르치심이다.

2. 사람의 영육과 흥망성쇠는 어느 때 어느 곳에서 결정되느뇨?
답： 현재라는 시간과 장소에서 결정된다.

3. 두 조상이 만난 현실에서는 몇 가지 축복이 되었느뇨?

1. 믿음의 두 조상 아브라함과 롯의 행위에서 신앙의 두 노선에 대한 공부를 지난번에 하였다. 그런고로 두 노선에 대한 역사적인 것은 더 말하지 않고 우리 자신들이 걸어갈 행위에대해 중요한 몇 가지를 공부하려 한다. 본 공과 요절에 좌우라는 양편을 말하였다. 이는 어떤 기독자라도 자기가 당면한 현실에는 좌 아니면 우 우 아니면 좌 두 길뿐이지 중은 없는 것을 가르치심이다.

아브라함과 롯이 만난 그 현실은
