Bible:  Isaiah 1:18-20
Title:  The Laws of God’s People
Main Verse:  “If you consent and obey you will eat the best of the land.” (Isaiah 1:19)

1.            There are the elect and unelect among the people.  We cannot know if one is an elect or unelect.  However we can assume one is an elect if that person has faith.

2.            Since the unelect are already condemned by being under a curse and destruction their lives have nothing to do with sinful and righteous deeds.  They are only competing for survival among themselves.  However the saints who have been elected by God are entirely different.  Since God has granted the redemption of the cross which consists of the forgiveness of sins and justification which leads to the regeneration and since He directly intervenes accompanies and grants the eternal salvation the lives of the believers are completely different from the unbelievers.  For the elect there are nothing that can harm them except sin.  There are also no other means of bringing in the blessings outside of righteous deeds.  We do not need to try to remove unhappiness because unhappiness will naturally leave when we find sin and fix it.  Even if unhappiness swarms in and hangs on it will not only be able to harm us if we don’t sin but it’s outcome will be blessing.

Therefore the means of getting rid of unhappiness is repenting our sins and the means of preventing unhappiness is not committing sin.  The means of preserving all the happiness that we already have is to act according to the will of God and acting righteously.  Even the happiness that was not there will come if we only act righteously.  
Therefore we must know that all unhappiness comes from sin and all happiness in the spirit and flesh comes from righteousness.  We must firmly hold to this truth and not waver.

1. 사람은 택자와 불택자로 되어 있다. 우리는 어떤 사람이 택자인지 불택자인지 잘 모르나 신앙을 가진 사람이라면 택자로 생각할 수 있다.

2. 불택자는 이미 정죄로 저주와 멸망 아래 있는 사람이기 때문에 죄에 대한 행위와 의에 대한 행위가 상관없이 사람끼리 생존중심으로 살고 있다.
그러나 하나님의 택하심을 받은 성도는 판이하다. 하나님이 십자가의 대속을 베풀어 사죄와 칭의로 중생하게 하셨고 또 직접 간섭하시고 동행하셔서 영원한 구원을 이루게 하시기 때문에 불신자와 아주 사는 길이 다르다.
택자들은 죄 외에는 아무것도 해할 것이 없고 또 의로운 행동 외에는 모든 복을 가져오는 방편이 없다. 모든 불행을 없앨려고 하지 말고 죄를 찾아 고치면 모든 불행이 스스로 물러가고 또 어떠한 불행이 우겨싸고 몰려와도 죄만 짓지 아니하면 결단코 추호의 해도 받지 않을 뿐아니라 결과적으로 축복이 된다. 그런고로 있는 불행을 없이하는 방법도 죄를 회개하는 것이요 오는 불행을 방지하는 것도 회개하는 것과 죄를 짓지 아니하는 것이다. 이미 있는 모든 행복을 잘 보존하는 방법도 하나님의 뜻대로 행하는 의를 행하는 것 뿐이요 없는 행복을 끌어오는 것도 의로 행하는 것 뿐이다. 그런고로 모든 불행을 죄로 말미암고 영육의 모든 행복은 의로 말미암는 이 사실을 굳게 잡고 요동치 말아야 한다.
